Ways To Search for LISA Members
1. Authority to Do Business
Looking to sell your life insurance policy? Use this search to find brokers,
providers, and producers with authority to do business in your state.
It’s easy!
Simply:
1. Select the type of business you wish to contact (E.g. Broker, Provider, etc.)
2. Select the type of policy sale you may be considering (E.g. viatical or life
settlement)
3. Select your state of residence.
If you need clarification on the type of sale you may be considering, simply click on the terms “viatical” or “life settlement” and read their respective definitions.
NOTE: If your state regulates viatical or life
settlements, this search will automatically provide you with a list of only
licensed companies. For your protection
and peace of mind, an LISA staff member has personally reviewed every individual
state license held by any member to verify their authority to do business.
2. Domicile
Looking for a company residing in your state? This is your search method!
Simply select the “Industry Segment,”
your state, and click search!
NOTE: Companies domiciled in a given state may not
necessarily be licensed to do business in that state. Always perform an “Authority to Do
Business” search and check with the appropriate state agency.
3. Company Name
If you know the name or part of the name of the company you are seeking, select
this option. Can’t recall or need
help? You may always call our office and an LISA staff member will be happy to
assist you.

contingent on current state law and regulation.

settlement law and regulation. If
you have a question regarding an LISA member’s authority to business in a

Life Settlement
|
A financial transaction in which a
policy owner possessing an unneeded or unwanted life insurance policy sells the
policy to a third party for more than the cash value offered by the life
insurance company. The purchaser becomes the new beneficiary of the policy at
maturation and is responsible for all subsequent premium payments.

Viatical Settlement

(from the Latin "Viaticum"
(vi-at-i-kum), historically, an allowance for traveling expenses or provisions
for a journey.) n. Historically, the proceeds from the sale of a
life insurance policy to a third party by a terminally ill individual.
The term today covers the sale by persons who are not terminally ill.
Today the term also refers to the sale by a policy owner who may not be the
